National Monument (Monas) - Jakarta

Paris has Eiffel tower, New york has Liberty, Italy has Pisa tower and here in Indonesia we have Monas tower. This moment i would like to write about National Monument at Jakarta. it is located in the central of capital city, Jakarta. 

The National Monument is one of the monuments in Jakarta erected to commemorate the Indonesian people fighting against the Dutch colonialist. The monument is located in central Jakarta, it is at the Lapangan monas (Monas square). The monument, with its unique style and is 137 m in height , was made of marbles with phallus form symbolizing the fertilizing. The flaming torch shape weighing 14.5 kg and is plated with 35 kg gold is placed on the top of the monument . The torch symbolizes the Indonesian people fighting for independence. The monument, erected at a 80-hectare land was officially opened for public on 12 July 1975, is known as Tugu Monas. The architect for this monument was Soedarsono and F. Silaban and the consultant was Ir. Rooseno. Before it is popular with Tugu Monas, the monument had five names, they were Lapangan Gambir, Lapangan Ikada, Lapangan Merdeka, Lapangan Monas and Taman Monas. Parks, two ponds and the open-air sport field surrounds the monument. This monument become the well-known tourist object for the holiday goers in Jakarta . Inside the monument is the museum and a hall for meditation and it is equipped with the elevator. At the top of the monument the Jakarta city is seen to be more crowded. The monument daily opens at 9:00 am - 04:00 pm.

Mount Tangkuban Perahu is tourist objects in Bandung n a legend  about Sangkuriang story. the legend tells bout the creation of lake bandung

here is the story began, there is a young man who fell in love with his mother, Dayang Sumbi. long time ago Dayang Sumbi is a princes. she was married with her pet named Tumang. Dayang sumbi n Tumang stay in the forest, far from the kingdom. she has a baby n named him Sangkuriang. One day Dayang sumbi ask Sangkuriang to hunt a deer. so he took his mother's dog (Tumang). When Tumang did not follow Sangkuriang’s order, Sangkuriang became very angry and he killed Tumang. He carved out Tumang’s heart and brought it back to his mother.Dayang Sumbi took the heart, cooked it and ate it. When she discovered that the heart belonged to Tumang, her husband, she was overcome with wrath. She sent her son away, but not before she hit him with a spoon and left a deep scar on his head.

Sangkuriang had been separated by his mother since childhood. Yet, he was destined to meet his mother again. When on his way home, he stopped at a small village and met and fell in love with a beautiful girl. He didn't realised that the village was his homeland nor that the beautiful girl was his own sacred mother (remain young & pretty).

Sangkuriang travelled around the world. After a long while, he arrived back in his village again without recognizing it. He saw a beautiful lady and fell in love with her. Little did he know that she was his own mother. He asked for her hand in marriage and she agreed.

Their love grew naturally and one day, when they were discussing their wedding plans, Dayang Sumbi suddenly realised that the profile of Sangkuriang's head matched that of her only son's who had left twenty years earlier. How could shee marry her own son? But she did not wish to dissapoint him by cancelling the wedding. 

So, although she agreed to marry Sangkuriang, she would do so only on the condition that he provide her with a lake and a boat with which they could sail on the dawn of their wedding day.Sangkuriang agreed to the condition.He built a boat from a large tree, and with the help of spirits, he dammed the Citarum river with landslides. The water eventually rose and filled the plain, turning it into a lake. When dawn was near, he was almost ready. Dayang Sumbi realized this, so she prayed for divine intervention. As an answer to her prayers, the eastern horizon lit up. Deceived by the lights, cocks crowed and farmers rose for the new day, thinking that dawn has broken.With his work not yet complete, Sangkurinag realised that his endeavour were lost. With all his anger, he kicked the boat that he himself had built. The boat fell over and, in so doing become the mountain TANGKUBAN PARAHU (in Sundanese, TANGKUBAN means upturned or upside down, and PARAHU means boat). With the dam torn assunder, the water drained from the lake becoming a wide plain and nowaday became a city called BANDUNG
